Web Design Questions

How much will it cost to design and build a website?

This very much depends on your requirements; that is what you need your website for. A small website, of little to no complexity would start at around £200. For an accurate answer to this question, contact us; tell us what you want, and we will oblige with a free quotation.

Will we need to conduct meetings regarding the website's design?

Not necessarily. Webetecture utilise electronic communication as much as possible, that is by sending e-mails, conducting conversations over an Instant Messenger, and by the sharing of documents. By conducting all communications over the internet, inevitably, we reduce the cost of the web design, by removing the need for travel.

Can you re-design my website?

Yes. We offer our refurbishment service. We will design you a new website, and fill it with the content from your old one, or if you have newer content you would like to incorporate into your new website, we will oblige.

I want a dynamic database driven site, can you help?

Of course we can. Dynamic websites can be quite pricey, and you are strongly advised to contact us immediately. We can then discuss your requirements, estimate the amount of time it will take, and give you a free quotation!

How long would it take to develop and build my website?

Again, this depends on the complexity of your website. The bigger the website, the longer it will take to develop. Again, if you contact us, we can estimate how long it will take. Webetecture work hard to deliver quality websites, in the shortest amount of time possible.

Do you use templates to develop your websites?

No. All our websites are hand-coded. This is the only way to ensure that we deliver the bespoke designs and functionality we're proud to create.

Do you create Content Management Based websites?

We can. We tend to favour WordPress for blog based websites, Joomla for more general sites, and Open-Cart for e-commerce based websites. Contact us for your free quote!

How do I provide you with the content I want on my site?

Simply send us an e-mail with documents attached. These documents could feature just the content, or you could even lay it out in a set way, and we will recreate it on the website for you (although you must be sure to tell us that this is your intention).

Maintenance Questions

Do I have to be tied to a monthly contract for maintenance?

No, not at all. Should you feel as though you need a one off update to your site, then drop us an e-mail, and we will quote it up for you. Should you need maintenance carried out on your website at short notice, we have an 'on-call' service available.

We also provide a Quarterly Maintenance contract, where we will perform routine maintenance on your site, four times a year. The timing of these dates can be every three months, or you can dictate when you want these dates to fall.

Quarterly Maintenance - When is the maintenance carried out?

Whenever you like. This package is more flexible than it sounds. Quarterly maintenance involves carrying out maintenance on your website four times a year, but the dates are not static; you can choose when these four dates are. You might want to tailor this to suit your business. For instance if your business performance is reliant on seasonal events, i.e. Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas, then you can set the dates to have the work carried out in time for these events.

Can the dates be changed?

Ideally, we would like for you to specify the dates first, and then stick to them, as this gives us as much notice as possible. In some cases this might not be practical for you/your business, and so the dates can be changed. When you want to change the dates, then please, give us at least two weeks' notice; the more the better.

Hosting Questions

What is hosting?

Hosting is the space on the internet where your website lives. Without 'web space' you can never get your website online. You will also need a domain name.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the address to your web space. For instance, www.webetecture.co.uk takes you to the server, where our site is hosted.

How much does Hosting cost?

This depends on your website. If your website takes up a lot of space, then you will need a lot of space. If your website requires a database to function, then you will need a database. The cost of hosting is relative to what you need. Webetecture can advise you, if you give us your websites details.

If you are having your website developed by Webetecture, and we haven't quoted you for hosting, then ask. We can create a bespoke hosting solution tailored to suit your website, for competitive prices.

How do I pay for hosting?

We currently accept payments using PayPal. You do not need an account for PayPal, so don't worry if you do not have one. Our hosting contracts are for 24 months. You will be required to pay for the contract up front.

What's the advantage of the 24 month contract?

Peace of mind - you do not need to think about it for two years!

What is the uptime percentage of your server?

Guaranteed 99.9% uptime.

Bandwidth... what?

Bandwidth is the amount of traffic your website can handle in a month. All of our packages have a designated amount of bandwidth, which is approximately ten times the amount of web space, which is ample for the vast majority of websites.

I'm interested. How do I obtain some web space?

Take a look at our hosting page (click here). On this page we have outlined five plans. Choose your plan, and click apply. We will set-up your account, and reply with a link to make the payment. Once payment is made, we will release the username and password to your new account.
