FAQ: Web Hosting

Webetecture

What is hosting?

Hosting is the space on the internet where your website lives. Without 'web space' you can never get your website online. You will also need a domain name.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is the address to your web space. For instance, webetecture.co.uk takes you to the server, where our site is hosted.

How much does Hosting cost?

This depends on your website. If your website takes up a lot of space, then you will need a lot of space. If your website requires a database to function, then you will need a database. The cost of hosting is relative to what you need. Webetecture can advise you, if you give us your websites details.

If you are having your website developed by Webetecture, and we haven't quoted you for hosting, then ask. We can create a bespoke hosting solution tailored to suit your website, for competitive prices.

How do I pay for hosting?

We currently accept payments for hosting using the popular payment platform, PayPal. You do not need an account for PayPal, so don't worry if you do not have one. Our hosting contracts are for 12 months. You will be required to pay for the contract up front.

What is the uptime percentage of your server?

Guaranteed 99.9% uptime.

Bandwidth... what?

Bandwidth is the amount of traffic your website can handle in a month. All of our packages have a designated amount of bandwidth, which is approximately ten times the amount of web space, which is ample for the vast majority of websites.

I'm interested. How do I obtain some web space?

Take a look at our hosting page, where we outline a number of hosting plans, simply choose a plan to suit your needs, click “Order”. You will then be prompted to make payment… Please do so.

Once we can confirm that a payment has been received, we will set up your hosting account, release the username and password, and you’re away!

If you are not sure which package you want, contact us. We're happy to help you!
